Haugesund, a visit by Hogne and Brian Adams
You must be thinking: "WOOT?! Has he gone totally mad?!". But no, not yet. Brian Adams visited Haugesund, but I didn't see him. But the one's that did, made an excellent party.
The boat from Bergen is arriving with hogne on board. In the background you can see the pride of Haugesund; Risøy shipyard!

We thought it might be on its place to go sightseeing. Here is one of Norways first Viking churches. You can see the virgin Mary needle there. The saying is that when that stone touches the church wall the world will go under. In the mid 1800's a priest thought it was too close and chopped off 20 cm.

On the way to the Viking town we found many neat things like this. If you look close you can see Hogne.

There! The long house. This is where all the viking parties were held.

Me and one of the Viking Gods (I thougt he was a bit small for a god though...)

Nice way to make the roof.

The ship house.

A Viking Pig.

Back home it is time to open some beers.

I broke the first beer I opened after arriving at the party at Håvard and Guro. Had to filter it. (Hey! You can't just throw away a beer just because it has alot of glass in it!)

Drinking game with cards. Tommy hit's the Jackpot.

Håvard and Anders has to drink....

Elisabeth and Guro having fun.

Anders with Irish coffe number three. And of course the coolest tatoo in the world :-D

Tommy and Glenn having fun with a stuffed animal.

On the way to the city. Hogne is lost in a roundabout.

Hmmm... Drunk?

The day after. A bloody two hour que for the ferry....

Iiiiiik!

I have officially made my first major mistake at work.
I planned inspection on 16 wells, but forgot to register inspection for the valves!!
I thought I might get away with it by keeping my mouth shut, but felt it might be better to come clean at once. Just in case.
I found out that only one of the wells had been shut down for visual inspection up to now, and the next is not scheduled until the 20th of October. So minimal damage done...
Today I will search for valves.
Hooray!
Congrats to Hogne on getting a job at Seabed Geophysical!!
Here is the lucky one:

Haha, he is actually standing still here, but I told him to lift a leg so it would look like he was walking :-p Turned out GREAT! :-D
It's from our expedition to the Viking village close to Haugesund two weeks ago. Will post more from that++ later when I got time.

Photos found at work part three
Found this one. Think it might be a guy that used to work in my department that got an internal offer of going to Australia.

Today I signed up or more correctly made it clear in the competance database that I'm ready to be shipped to; Asia, Africa, North and south America, the middle East Europe and Australia. Would have been fun, wouldn't it?

Solidarity?
Yesterday after work I had to hurry to the city
center in order to get to the post office before
it closed. I was picking up a parcel that had
been laying there too long, and I had to give
feedback about the contents as soon as possible.
A bit stressed I rode my bike as fast as I
could.
When I got to the overpass by the train station
I suddenly saw a person laying stangely in the
middel of the sidewalk. There was no one else
there and there are huge barriers on both sides.
"What the hell is this?" I thought. Getting
closer I saw that it was one of the homeless
people that hang around the train station. I
slowed down when I passed him, but just
continued. "he is probably just sleeping and I
havent got time to stop." I said to my self..
And I drove on.
When I got to the post office I started thinking
"what if he wasn't sleeping? What if he had
taken an overdose or were seriously ill?". I got
a bit stressed and my conscience felt really
bad.
Then after standing in a long que and getting my
parcel I decided to cancel my other errands and
ride back to the see if he was alright.
When I got there I found him sitting on a bench.
Didn't do anything more. Went home. Went to
squash.
Guess I'm not as solidary as I like to be. I
think I didn't stop the first time is because I
didn't want to care and was probably afraid of
what diseases I might catch. Don't know what
other reasons there was as the instinct
automaticly said no. I don't think "I have to
hurry cause I need to give feedback and squash
starts in one hour" is a good reason.
What if he was really ill? What if he was dead?
I didn't know and I just drove on.
Argh, is this my post divorce conscience going
to new fields?
I am a bad person.
Who isn't?

The wedding
Not the russian wedding, but the Norwegian one.
Got two photos from the wedding party and the wedding.
Here is Kari and Harald just after the ceremony :-D I think this is a very nice photo.

And here is me. I look a bit drunk I know, but I'm not. I think. (Number three from the right)

It's crazy with work to do right now, but just had to take the time to throw these two out on the blog.
Going squashing tonight! :-D
Have fun!

The Deadly High Oil Price
Most people has probably seen that the price of gasoline and other oil products are much higher than it used to be a couple of years ago. The price for a barrel of oil was not long ago above 70$. This might be good for the oil companies and the countries that has oil on its premises, but not so good for people who drive i.e. a car.
The deadly part of the story, or at least one of the deadly parts, is that now all the low producing fields that were closed down suddenly becomes interesting again, and new reservoars are opened. And what happens then? More people is needed. Where do they get these people from? Other oil projects. Many of these people are HSE-people or people working directly with the oil rig safety.
We are now back to where we where in the early 90's. Not to mention names, oil companies are now putting production and money before the safety of the workers.
We(me and my colleagues) are no longer sure we garantee that it's safe to be out there. We have too little people, too large back log. It has to be another catastrophe to open the company leaders eyes.

In The Mountain, Preikestolen
OK, finally got my photos out. Here are some of them :-)
We drove directly from work at 15'00. Then took the ferry to Tau, 40 minutes. And the we had to drive for 25 minutes in order to get to the parking lot at the foot of the mountain.
After five minutes of walking you get to this nice small stoned road. Nice to have "mountain shoes"...

The first rest, and the first view point. Geir in front and my boss, Kjell Rune, in the back.

My boss(left) and Nada(right) on a wooden road across a swamp.

Give me some difficult terrain! :-D

Starting to get high. Nice view and an intersection.

This was an amazing view! Hehe, you can actually see the French girl way infront of us.

Jørn and the french girl.

!!! This was starting to get sort of ureal :-D

Nice view! We are getting close to "the pulpit".

Half a meter from a certain death...

Preikestolen!! (The Pulpit!!)

Haha, I had to get to the edge and look down :-D

A nice cracky edge.

The Expedition

Nice and stoney

-Do you see the bottom?

Beer time! One can fell to the ground and Geir had to save the beer comeing out of the hole :-p

Lysefjorden

Dogs, Beer and chicken

MEEEEEE!!!

Then, at 22'00, we sat down ordered a beer. We were all pleased that everyone had returned alive.

Today is saturday, have been to the recycling place and trown away old impregnated wood and two huge glass windows. My car could almost not carry the whole thing on the boggey.
Have fun!
Cheers!

Friday!
Music: The shins; so says I.
Work: Kill Mud. Nice name, crappy system that is almost falling apart...
To do: Drive to the Airport and pick up my father and two school leaders. Drive to Haugesund. Relax. Sunday; look at an appartment in Stavanger. Argh! Hate looking for something to buy! It's all so bloody expensive!
1 minute left. I'll have to turn off my computer!
Bye!

Preikestolen (The Pulpit)
Got this one from one of my colleagues. Here we are on the top of Preikestolen. The photo was taken by a French girl who went up alone to sleep in a tent at the top. She was very little prepared. Had almost no food, no water at all. Little clothes. Hmm.. going up there alone for the first time is sort of for advanced hikers...

Anyways, before we went down we gave her all the food and almost all the water we had left. And she got the remaining "heat" in the BBQ we had lit up for grilling.
And I must correct my self. It is not 1000 m straight down to the water/sea, its 640 meters.
Went to play indoor hockey yesterday (thanks for the english word Kuntry). Thought I might have a chance of being in the top half as I had been told the level was quite low. But nope, they were seriously good! I was exhausted afterwards. Scored one goal and let 7 go past me into the net, three of them were tunnels... Well, I hope I don't suck as much next time. It was excellent fun.

Photo drought
Yep, couldn't find my transfer cable in Haugesund either.. where the bloody hell is it?!
But, found this, or one of my colleagues sent the page to me. Hahaha, it is an archive of all the new emploees this year. I was gonna ask you if you could see where I am, but guess I had to have away the first name as well... Sigh, I hated everything when they took that photo. Had caught the flu and had a fever with 40 degrees celcius body temperature... Tried to smile... Tried not to caugh... Then I had to walk all around the building and say hello to everyone in my department... *shivers*
But had to attend the first day yeah?
The flu lasted two weeks. First time I ever had to eat pills. And I mean EAT.

At taekwon-do practice yesterday I injured the second person in a week :-| But this time it wasn't my fault. Tried to explain how to land correctly after a sweep, but nooo... didn't do it. But last time might have been my mistake. Was streching a guy's leg after practice... might have overdone it... he didn't show yesterday... But the foot blade was positioned incorrectly, I had to make it correct, yeah? OK, I'll be more careful next time.
I'm going to play squash later tonight with some guys from work. Haven't played it in three years... look forward to slideing on the parquet floor with my knees.. ahh.. that burning sensation...
Then we are going to Prekestolen tomorrow after work. Will be nice, never been there before. Think everyone from inspection will come along.

Maybe we'll be back for taekwon-do at 20.00.
Then there is indoor bandy on thursday. Blah... I have to find out how much excersice I can handle. Can't imagine me attending all this, every week. Getting tired just by thinking of it...
But I'll always have the weekend kill my good shape. Good.

To Suffer Privation
Good morning! Today I will get back my transfer cable, hopefully.................
Meanwhile, here are some other photos that I don't think I have posted before, and either has or have had a great meaning in my life:
The bear skulls. This traditional Norwegian storehouse is decorated with two bear skulls from the area before it got extinct. This storehouse is located next to my cabin in Kongsberg and every time since I was born my mother yelled out "Look! Bear skulls!" when we drove past. So now it is a tradition I'm doing every time I go up there(only when I have company of corse..)

My desk. It's not as boring as it looks, but guess you have to be there... the light you see is actually from the sun, so I'm not totally hidden in a large building.

The interview; first time in Stavanger.
It was bloody cold that morning. Had to put on the engine heater... Later it came 15 cm of wet heavy snow which made a total trafic chaos.

I had no clue where I was when taking this. Stavanger quay.

Who knew it was somewhere under that bridge I was gonna work..
