The Landlord...
My neighbour came knocking on my door approximately the time I came home yesterday and asked if I had talked to the landlord (or should I say landlady) lately.
I said no, but was planning on real soon actually.
Then he said that the landlady had been down stairs and knocked on my door. Since I weren't home she went to him and said that I hadn't paid my rent in two months and she found it suspicious that I never opened the door when she knocked...
Argh!
First of all; I WORK! I'm not home at 10 in the morning.
Second; I gave her my phone number and email adress when signing the contract. Why not try that?
Third; Why on earth does she go to the neighbour and tell him that I'm not paying the rent and try to hide when ever she comes over to ask me why I haven't paid it. Wise thing to do.
OK, so there will not be any misunderstandings: I have paid every single rent since I moved in. And I had to stop by work to print out every single receipt from my bank yesterday evening when going to tuesday-soccer. Then put them in their mail box.
Am I overreacting? Maybe. But accusing me of not paying the rent and then hiding not to get caught is rather serious. This kind of unjustified mistrust annoys me.
Should I now go to them or the police first because they haven't installed a fire extinguisher? Guess the police would be their choise.
Is your land lord just as unreasonable? Or maybe worse? Or better?
OK, now I'm over it. Just had to share it with someone(everyone?)

hahah! that's funny...don't u have those building inspectors or better buisness bareau or sometin' likes that? dey deal more 'bout fire-extinguisher, not police?!-though perhaps it's very different there! she's p'bably checkin u out and got caught snooping by ur neighbour and said the stoopid rent thing. what a weirdo! u should definitely ask her what's up! (hope u keep all ur rent receits just in case....)

Well, actually it would be more correct to go to the fire dept. and then they will press charges :-p But I might not do that yet, should probably give them yet a chance to buy a extinguisher first.
Yeah, your theory is very good, maybe she was caught trying to check me out by my neighbour and had to come up with an excuse :-)
And luckily I have all my rent receits available. That I would now recomend to everyone!

Håper du tar henne SKIKKELIG!!! Veldig lite profft og greit av henne å si sånt. Kanskje du får halv husleie neste måned fordi hun har vært så drøy???

Women have to pass a test before they're allowed to be landladies. It says: are you freakish, nosey and suspicious? If they answer yes, they get the job.
