Weekend in Haugesund
Went home to Haugesund this weekend (Again...), mostly to celebrate my birthday and meet friends who had come home from vacation, but also cause there was nothing happening in Stavanger this weekend or at least nothing of interest.
The Music festival was very nice :-) A lot of strange artists, but also many very good ones.
Here's a photo of one of the strange ones, but fascinating :-p You can see his musical suitcase on the screen in the back ground:

I'll start with some photos from last weekend.
Erik and I are on our way to a "party" at Glenn's:

Julia and Glenn:

Me outside our(my dads..) house in Haugesund:

The view from our house, probably for the 20th time, but can't seem to get enough of it :-p

The job list my father wrote before they went on holyday to the states. I almost completed it..

This weekend:
Me and Asbjørn decided to go to the lawns next to the Harald Hårfagre memorial to throw frisbee.

Asbjørn managed to climb to the top.

But the frisbee didn't make it all the way...

We decided to go swimming afterwards. Asbjørn jumped first.

It went better than expected... :-D

My turn

Survived... It was freakn' cold by the way... or at least until your body turned numb :-P

Yeah, only me and Gollum can make this pose...

Played football last night, and then there was this tropical storm that almost washed us away. Excellent fun, but can feel it in my legs... football again tomorrow! Hopefully with a little sunhine.
Next weekend I'll be going to Kongsberg where me and a friend will fish, listen to music and stay up very late all weekend.. will be taking friday off so I don't arrive too late at friday night.

Photos from Berlin, Part 2
Mmmm.... Guess who is not tired today... :-)
As I said earlier I was going to put out the rest of the photos as soon as I'd resized them and so on... Here they are:
On the airport bus from Stavanger to Sola, we drive through Hafsfjord. There is a Viking monument with three swords:

The new appartment. It's the one in the middle:

Me on the balcony. 33 degrees...

One of the rooms in the new appartment.

The same room now from a different angle. And my sister :-) For some reason I didn't take pictures of the rest of the appartment... I have a 71 sek movie though...

My sister and mother walking down the stairs

My sister and me in an Italian resturant

My mother giving the starter some lemon

In an artists back yard at night

Wir und die Frösche brauchen frische Luft:

a bit spooky...

Love parade!

Rodrigo Del Castillo, one of my old room mates from Berlin. Drinking beer in Boxhagener Platz:

Me, doing the same thing:

To Erika: THE BERLIN WALL! :-D

Wohoo :-D
Just talked to one of my superiors, and he said he wanted to get me out to the Statfjord B oil platform within two or three weeks so I could learn something from the openings going to be made during the five week shutdown that started this week.
Helicopter! Weee! (money!)
I've only been on Statfjord C before, so I really hope I get a vacant bed so that I'm permitted out. This is SFB, almost identical to SFC:

If you want a post card, you have to give me the adress somehow. And I will try to get time to write this time....

Yawn...
I'm seriously tired... Two cups of coffee... half a liter of water... No work done yet... I stayed up late last night, had to see this film "Airplane!" before I got to bed. Bad idea. But funny movie though. One of the earliest films I remember seeing actually, so I had to see it again to see if it was as funny as I remembered it to be. Maybe not, but still funny.
Tonight I will go to sleep at 22.00. I'm not kidding.
OK, I have to stop complaining!!
Done.
Got this photo from the Snorre B oil rig. They set the new record for this fish called a Ling. They said something about 30 kg and a length of 175 cm.

They have too little work to do there! :-P But might have been in their spare time, and they do have a fishing club there.
Anyway, there is a food festival here in Stavanger now. Excellent if you like standing in a long que for a free food sample or pay exstremely much for a meal.

But it is nice to walk around and look, especially when the weather is so nice :-)

Soccer & Sleep
Played soccer all yesterday afternoon. It was great to finally get to move around outside again. The playing went well too, except for the time when I tackled a guy; He got away, but out of balance he ran after the ball, 10 m, tried to shoot it, and twisted his ancle very badly. We got him a bag of frozen vegetables to put on, but after we had finished playing he was driven to the hospital. Bad thing there....
Anyway, how come both my neighbours are up till 01.00 and gets up at 06.00? (yawn..)

Safe as Milk festival 2006
http://www.safe-as-milk.org/
Hopefully I will be able to celebrate my birthday here on saturday.

Some of you might recognize two of the guys on this photo.. :-)
This underground festival has given me many bands and artists I never knew existed, and I'm really looking forward to this years edition.

My first critical find...
Sorry 'bout this; some work related stuff...
Got a rapport from the platform chief today about a find they had done from the inspection program I'd sendt out. It was 2 mm left from the original 7.5 mm pipe wall. Kind of pleased as it was my first :-p
The drawing sent from the oil platform

A couple of months more could have resulted in a little catastrophe...
Well, this sort of sums up my job. Tell people where to look for corrosion and erosion, see for my self offshore if it is possible to execute and then wait for the results... sounds interesting doesn't it? :-P
Actually it is :-)
The sun is shining today, will try to find a vacant spot in the park and read my book. Might go to Haugesund tomorrow. Really wanted to relax at home, but got some requests about getting up there...

Back in Norway
After a wonderful long weekend I'm back in Stavanger.
The weather was very nice :-) Sunshine, 30 degrees; I've even gotten a tan!
Picture your self at a beach cafe, your feet in the sand, boats with tourists passing by, a cold beer in your hand, nice relaxing music. Life is good.
My mother and step fathers new appartment was also great. Very nice location too! And what better than located only a stone throw away from a big park?
I'm still looking for something other than PS7 to resize my photos. Is there anything like MS Office picture manager on the net that is free? I lost my version of MSOPM when I formatted my laptop...
If you know about something like that I'd be very happy to hear about it :-D
PS: I'm sick of reading about Norwegians who are complaining because they only was given water and no food on the ten hour rescue voyage from Libanon to Cyprus. Especially when the Libanese food and medicine trucks was bombed at the way to the hospital today.

Insomnia
It's daylight until 12, it's 24 degrees in my bedroom and my landlords kids are running around upstairs until one o'clock at night. And my neighbour has a loud croud in his livingroom, which is on the other side of the wall from my bedroom. And; I could only find one ear plug :-|
Anyways; Going to Berlin on friday morning! :-D Ahh.. laying in Görlitzerpark with a beer, doing nothing. Drinking Coffee in Unter den Linden. Eating out every day. I'm really looking forward to it :-)
This photo is from the Faroe Islands; A norwegian drilling rig is being prepared for a oil and gas search.

Not sure why I posted this photo, but it was a nice shot:-p
Wish you all a wonderful summer!

Only Once List
Ok, suddenly had an urge to make a list. Hope you'll take your time to make your own top five or ten "only once" list after you've red mine :-D
PS: don't judge me for my earlier wrong doings :-)
Top Ten Things I've Only Did Once:
1. Went diving without checking the depth.
2. Rode on the back of a train, outside on the shock absorbers.
3. Ate a whole Exstemely hot chilli pepper in a very expensive restaurant.
4. Was cantankerous with a police officer.
5. Bought things on eBay without checking the new price somewhere else.
6. Threw stones at a wasp hive that was keeping us from playing in a boat.
7. Drank a whole glass of fermented horse milk from Mongolia.
8. Drove the whole way home after first night shift at the summer job even though I was constantly almost falling asleep
9. Sang the song "Eg tok min nystemte" SOLO at the end-of-term celebration in fifth grade in Oslo. (National anthem from Bergen)(No it was not KARAOKE, there where parents and everything...)
10. Gone on a russeraid (sixth former raid) with a driver who actually couldn't drive.
I'm going to Berlin on Friday, so if I don't get the chance to post the photos before that I wish you a nice weekend!

Snorre B; the second oil rig I've worked on, and cleanest.

The long return
Well well well... Back on the net, or..
Got sort of fed up by everything related to the internet a couple of weeks ago. Think it has something to do with the amount of work at my job, and the fact that I have only gotten five to six hours of sleep each night the last month due to the football world champinship... It will soon be over.. luckily. Have to go!
Ok, now I'm back again; have been drinking beer and wine with Thomas and Erik while seeing the whole seson one of "the office". Hilarious
The main reason I'm posting this post is 'cause I'm having these photos from the cabin trip last weekend. So; here are a small collection:
The cabin

Relaxing

Still relaxing

Glenn

Swimming

Who will get the frisbee?

Climbing

Throwing

Deep conversation

Stuck on the roof after fetching the frisbee

By the fire

Anders and Elisabeth

Painting people with coal is fun!

Thomas by the fire. A nice photo until the girl pointed out that...

Me three o'clock in the morning
