I COULD HAVE SAVED A LIFE THAT DAY

I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.
It wasn't that I didn't care,
I had the time, and I was there.

But I didn't want to seem a fool,
Or argue over a safety rule.
I knew he'd done the job before,
If I spoke up, he might get sore.

The chances didn't seem that bad,
I'd done the same, He knew I had.
So I shook my head and walked on by,
He knew the risks as well as I.

He took the chance, I closed an eye,
And with that act, I let him die.
I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.

Now every time I see his wife,
I'll know, I should have saved his life.
That guilt is something I must bear,
But it isn't something you need share.

If you see a risk that others take,
That puts their health or life at stake.
The question asked, or thing you say,
Could help them live another day.

If you see a risk and walk away,
then hope you never have to say,
I could have saved a life that day,
but I chose, to look the other way.

This poem sort of sums up my week. Have been at a safety seminar together with my colleagues arranged by Statoil, our costumer. http://www.statoil.com/kollegaprogrammet.
It was the best seminar I've ever been to. Met people who had lost their loved ones or had almost lost their own life. Debates. Group discussions. Contests. Work outs with Erik Torstvedt two times the day:-) Odd Børresen giving us introduction to each theme in his own funny, but serious way. Good lunch, excellent dinner. Nice people.

Anyway; I'm in haugesund now. To get some rest. But, not sure if I will manage to do that....

My cars muffler "exploded" on the way through one of the deep water tunnels yesterday... now it sounds like a race car... I want to apologize to all my neighbours for waking them up at two o'clock last night...

I'm tired. Have had two cups of coffee. Better go and get some breakfast too.

Have fun!

Comments:
What the hell are you doing to my old and much missed Volvo? Do be careful with it...

Regards
Baltika

Volvo = Jeg ruller!

And to Baltika:
When are you comming from russia with love?

Savne litt mer aktiv blogging fra deg nå, Ragnvald.

Hepp!

Godt med litt normal dosering av søvn etter helgå! Har du noen gang vurdert ein kariere innen frisbee?

Runde oter hilser ditt smilende vesen!

Hepp Ragge!

(Sånn i tilfelle me ikkje treffes før me tar med samsam og fru på ferie)

Ehem.. kremt.. I'll take this in english (sry) :-)
Thanks for all your comments! I've been sort of absent when it comes to internet lately. Met the internet wall sort of... But now I will try to get better.
Baltika: Not to worry, I'll use all my life savings to restore it.
Hoppalong: Thanks for the good words. Yeah, my legs was cut up too, but they're healed now...
Msaasm: It's coming!!
Runde Oter: Yeah, have concidered it, but those other frisbee guys are much better...
